Our customers should know where their electricity comes from. That is why we look for generation that fits their consumption and integrates cleanly into a full supply. With Sunnic, we expand our portfolio with wind power from German plants.

The deal

The Hamburg-based energy supplier STARQstrom has signed a power supply agreement with Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH via the digital PPA marketplace Otark. Sunnic, a subsidiary of ENERPARC AG and one of Germany’s largest green-power marketers, will supply STARQstrom with wind power from German plants going forward. Deliveries start as early as 01.07.2026.

STARQstrom first posted its demand on Otark, the digital tendering platform for green power, with little effort of its own. The request was then sent to a network of over 200 vetted suppliers. From the responses, STARQstrom was able to identify five precisely matching and directly comparable offers within 48 hours. The entire remaining process – from selection through contract negotiations to closing with Sunnic – was orchestrated end-to-end by Otark. What on the traditional PPA market means six to twelve months of manual research and bilateral contract negotiations was thus completed in just six weeks.

Wind meets sun

Why wind complements the portfolio

For STARQstrom, the contract is an important component in expanding its own power portfolio. To supply its customers with local green power consistently, a mix of generation from PV systems and wind farms is the best choice.

Wind delivers when the sun does not – in the evening hours and during the winter months. The result is a more predictable, more even green-power supply for the energy-intensive mid-market and industrial customers that STARQstrom serves.

What the partners say

We know every park our electricity comes from – and we want to purchase just as transparently. Otark makes finding the right partners considerably easier. Speed and transparency are important aspects for us in expanding our portfolio.

For buyers, it is often laborious in the PPA market to find the right providers and compare offers cleanly. Otark makes this step considerably easier. In this case, a clearly described demand from STARQstrom and a matching wind-power offer from Sunnic came together very quickly.

With PPAs, what matters is that the generation profile and demand fit together. With STARQstrom, it was very clear what role wind power should play in the portfolio. Via Otark, we were able to review this demand in a structured way and prepare the closing efficiently.

The deal shows what becomes possible in the PPA market when supply and demand no longer have to find each other laboriously one by one. Sunnic brings the right green power, STARQstrom the demand from supplying mid-market customers, and Otark turns that into a structured, comparable process all the way to the contract. This is exactly how speed comes to a market that has so far often been too slow and too intransparent.

STARQstrom was launched on 1 January 2026 in Hamburg by Dr. Peter Vest (former head of Yello Strom) and Fabio Griemens (former manager at LinkedIn and FREENOW). The electricity provider primarily targets energy-intensive, mid-market companies, but also supplies commercial and residential customers. STARQstrom stands out through the combination of its own power generation from wind and PV parks, direct marketing, and full supply from a single source. This eliminates unnecessary trading stages and the detour via the power exchange. That ensures a simple and transparent cost logic, fair prices, and reliable delivery. For every kilowatt-hour delivered, STARQstrom provides official guarantees of origin. Companies with ESG and audit obligations in particular benefit from the traceable origin from its own plants in Germany. For 2026, STARQstrom plans for around 500 GWh in its own balancing group. By the end of 2027, the company aims to supply, on a calculated basis, around one million households with green electricity and to accelerate the energy transition with simple and transparent products.
